Kelly Tissot
In her artwork, Kelly Tissot (1995, Haute-Savoie/FR, lives and works in Basel) combines photographic series with installative elements, examining image constructions as well as traditional concepts of landscape. Her works are characterized by a cool aesthetic, in which the familiar and unfamiliar overlap in a multi-layered way. Through this, she reveals how people shape nature. She creates images that oscillate between a rural idyll and a palpable sense of unrest.
About the talk
The conversation will focus on Tissot’s imagery and the unsettling atmosphere that characterizes her work. With input from Fabienne Liptay, it will explore how cinematic narratives disrupt conventional viewing habits and suddenly make seemingly banal details of the landscape look uncanny. The central question is how images tell stories without revealing everything – a deliberate play with the visible and the hidden, in which familiar landscapes lose their harmless clarity.
